I have always had a love affair with high tops.
One of my most vivid memories as a five year old took place in a Foot Locker,
located in downtown Baltimore.
I had been coveting the multi-color stripe Converse high tops and did
I mention they had glitter on the stripes?
I told the employee my size as I held onto the floor sample for dear life.
He informs me that they’re OUT OF MY SIZE!
I started hysterically crying and told my Mom I would just double up
on my socks, that I HAD TO HAVE these.
The poor salesman probably thought I should have doubled up on my
Ritalin that day.
I collected Converse as a child, and as I grew in height so did my
tastes for high tops; it skyrocketed.
In the past ten years, I have been collecting Jordans, Air Jordans for
those that don’t know and for those that really don’t know Michael
Jordan’s Nike Air Jordans.
My favorite styles are the 3’s and the 5’s. Nothing looks better with
a pair of J’s than a flirty dress.
If you’re wondering if I’m still as manic today, I do have a pair of
metallic J’s that only ran in the bigger sizes, so you know I just
double up my socks.
Some things never change.
